Sliding Gates Wear Where They Roll

A sliding gate carries its entire weight on a small number of rolling contact points and a length of track that sits outdoors collecting grit, water and leaves. That combination means most sliding gate faults are wear or contamination problems long before they are electrical ones.

The earliest sign is usually sound. A gate that has started grinding, clicking or straining is telling you a roller, guide or chain needs attention, and addressing it then is far less involved than after the operator has been fighting it for months.

Cantilever and Rolling Gates

Cantilever sliding gates avoid a ground track by carrying the gate on rollers mounted to posts, which changes what wears. Roller carriages, the counterbalance section and post alignment all matter, and a gate that has begun to sag or rub is usually telling you one of those needs attention.

Operator and Control Work

Once the gate rolls freely again, we check that the operator is set up correctly for it — travel limits, force settings, soft start and stop where supported, safety devices and remote or keypad access. A smooth gate with badly set limits will still slam or stop short.
